BECAUSE YOU DID NOT SERVE GOD JOYFULLY

TOPIC: BECAUSE YOU DID NOT SERVE GOD JOYFULLY...
TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 28:36-68.
KEY VERSE: "Because you did not serve the LORD your God joyfully and gladly in time of prosperity," (Vs. 47)
SUMMARY
The culmination of the curses for disobedience was a life of constant suspense with no security, dire poverty instead of prosperity and family disorder. All these are to make us understand the privilege we have to serve the Lord with a willing and thankful heart in times of prosperity. Detailed prophecy of the exile to a foreign nation that God's people would suffer as a final . result of their disobedience was the only way to teach Israel not to take the blessing of having God's word for granted, but the exile was also part of God's plan to redeem his people once they have been disciplined. In Jesus, no distance can separate us from God's saving grace, mercy and love.
APPLICATION
According to Romans 8:28, the scripture says all things work together for the good of God's people who are in love with him, even the all the poverty, exile and so many other evil our disobedience brought on us will ultimately work for the purpose of God to draw us closer to himself through the ultimate sacrifice of Christ, if only we will return to Him with our whole heart, obeying and serving him joyfully all the days of our lives.
PRAYER: Lord, help me not to take my freedom for granted, but serve you willingly. Thank you for working all things for our good in Jesus' Name, Amen.
