WISDOM OF THE PRUDENT

TOPIC: WISDOM OF THE PRUDENT.

TEXT: PROVERBS 14:1- 17.

KEY VERSE: "The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception." (Vs. 8)
SUMMARY
With high running emotions and strong desires, we give in to folly and do things we wish we hadn't. The home is the domain of the mother, she must never loose sight of the value of making it a place of refuge and strength, (Vs. 1). Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom for all who walk uprightly, (Vs. 2). This saves from all kinds of folly: lashing out at others, poor planning, dishonesty, following foolish people's proud and empty ways. When we are prudent, we wisely consider our steps and directions in life and thus, we are protected from all kinds of deceptions, foolishly fighting others and breaking relationships, this will also help us to seek goodwill among others and ensures that our emotions does not control us, (Vs. 10, 12, 16 and 17). Taking time to consider our ways goes against our modern mindset of instant gratification. We need God's Spirit to prudently consider our steps.

APPLICATION
I learnt from the teaching from the above passage that I must give careful thought to my ways and actions, I must always ensure that they are in total conformity to the perfect will of God for my life so that I will not end in deception, error and ultimately death, but live all the days of my life in truth and abundant life flourishing and shinning for my God in this present age and forever with him in the age to come.

PRAYER: Lord, please grant me your Spirit of wisdom to act prudently and protect me from folly in Jesus' Name, Amen.
FURTHER READING: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-16.
ONE WORD: HAVE THE WISDOM OF THE PRUDENT.
