SO THAT YOU MAY LIVE.

TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 4:1-14

KEY VERSE: "Now, Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you". (Vs. 1)

SUMMARY

The Promised Land of God for his people is guaranteed, but for them to truly take possession of it and truly live, they must have the word of God in them (which will give them strength to overcome, 1 John 2:12-14). Therefore, Moses at God's command taught them the word of God. They are not only to hear it, but they must follow it, living daily in accordance to it, not forgetting it, but remembering and obeying it. Only then can they truly meet God and experience his glory. The word of God is their life not the Land.

APPLICATION

As a young man, cucumbered with a lot of fears, worries and personal ambitions which constantly take away almost my whole attention and focus, I am being reminded this day through this teaching that my life is not the promise land (prosperity), but the very word of God, my only source of strength and victory.

PRAYER: Lord, your word is life. Help me to hold on to your word, obey it and experience your glory in Jesus' Name, Amen.
