TOPIC: JESUS WILL OVERTHROW THE LAWLESS ONE

TEXT: 2 THESSALONIANS 2:1-17.

KEY VERSE: "And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming." (Vs. 8)

SUMMARY

Prior Jesus' return, the world will descend into full rebellion against God, for the man of lawlessness will be revealed. He is currently held back by the power of the Holy Spirit, but his power is already at work in the world. When he is revealed, he will deceive many and lead them to destruction. God will allow this to come upon those who do not love the truth, John 3:15-18 ,but when our lord Jesus returns, he will destroy the lawless one. Those who are sanctified through the Holy Spirit, believed and love the truth will not share the fate of the wicked who do not love the truth, following the antichrist. Instead, they will share in the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ when he returns. We can only overcome the work of the lawless one when we truly love the Lord, shown by holding fast and firm to God's word. 

APPLICATION

From the text above, I am convinced that for me to truly overcome the lawless one and his power currently at work in this world and to live in accordance to God's perfect will so as not to be condemned with the world, but to be justified and glorified with Him at the end, I must love the truth himself, the Lord Jesus Christ and daily ask for the help of the Holy Spirit and power.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank you for your sure victory over the lawless one. Help me to stand firm on your promises in Jesus' Name, Amen.
