TOPIC: LOVE FOR GOD AND LOVE FOR NEIGHBOURS.
TEXT: LUKE 10:25-37.
KEY VERSE: "Jesus told him, 'Go and do likewise.'" (Vs. 37B)
SUMMARY
An expert in the law asked Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life, but his question was rooted in self-righteousness. He had believed that he loved God with all of his heart, soul, strength and mind and also his neighbours, but Jesus' response to go and do likewise and live shows that he had not truly loved as he thought. Although, the Priest and the Levites knew God's word perfectly well, but they did not share his heart of compassion, mercy and love which is boundless and limitless.
APPLICATION
I am reminded again from the above passage that I must have God's kind of heart of compassion, mercy and love. My love for the whole human race is directly related to my love for God. Therefore, I must daily ask God to fill my heart with his kind of love and study his word to see his character and attitude so that I can daily demonstrate same to others and thus, inherit the eternal life of God.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, give us hearts
