TOPIC: THE FEAR OF THE LORD ADDS LENGTH TO LIFE.
TEXT: PROVERBS 10:19-33
KEY VERSE: "The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. " (Vs 27)
SUMMARY
Multiplying words cannot end sin, but the wise spares his words. The righteous nourishes many, but the fool lacks sense. The wise delights in wisdom, but the fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes. The Lord grants the desire of the righteous, but what the wicked dread will overtake them. The righteous will stand firm forever, but the wicked will be cut off. The fear of the Lord gives eternal life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. The righteous will speak wisdom and will never be uprooted, but the fool speaks only what is perverse and will not remain in the Land.
APPLICATION
I learnt from the text above that my words must be few if I really want to be free from sin because sin is not ended when words are multiplied. Also, I learnt from this text that only the blessing of the Lord makes one rich and wealthy without adding any form of sorrow to it. The righteous will live long because of the fear of God in their heart with all round blessing of God. So I must live daily as a righteous man before God by His grace, rejecting the path of the wicked, I am confident of eternal security and satisfaction in God.
PRAYER: Lord, you are our refuge, help me to fear you so that my lips may nourish others in Jesus' name.
FURTHER READING: Psalm 127:1-5.
ONE WORD: FEAR GOD AND BE WISE.
