TOPIC: OUR RESURRECTION HOPE.

BIBLE TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-5:11.

KEY VERSE: "For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him." (Vs. 14).

SUMMARY

Christ alone is our hope, apart from Him, we have no hope after death. After his death, he was raised to life and his resurrection guarantees our eternal life (whether asleep or awake), John 14:19. Our glorious hope as believers lies in the dramatic and unmistakable second coming of Jesus Christ when the dead in Christ will be raised to life first, then the living will be taken with Him thereafter. Although, we do not know when Jesus will return, but we must not be deceived by any worldly illusion of peace and safety. The spiritually ignorant people live and act in darkness, but as the children of the Light who are spiritually awake and sober, we must prepare for Jesus' return by putting on the anchor of faith, love and hope. God has appointed us to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ and one day live together with Him forever.

APPLICATION

Since we have this hope of resurrection in God through our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. The onus is therefore on us to live a life well pleasing before God- living in holiness and righteousness with Him all the days of our lives as we awaits his glorious return. We must live daily as the children of the Day and Light- soberly and awake, fully focused on him who alone is our life and hope, so that we will not miss our appointment with Him.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, your resurrection is our hope. Help us to live as Children of the Day and the Light as we await your return in Jesus' Name.
