TOPIC: INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT HOLY LIVING.
BIBLE TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:1-12.KEY VERSE: "For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life." (Vs. 7)
SUMMARY
By the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ,Apostle Paul instructed the Thessalonians to please God. They were urged to obey God's instructions more and more, living according to God's will for them, that is, to be sanctified, which included avoiding sexual immorality and controlling theirbodies. They were to be honourable and holy towards their brothers and sisters and even themselves. God will surely punish those who continue to live in passionate lust. God still calls us today to live a pure and holy life. Also, they were to love one another, not busybodies, gossips and a burden on others, but leading a quiet life, minding their own business and working with their own hands. This kind of life leave no room for criticism and could win the respect of outsiders.
APPLICATION
In this generation that is sexually perverted, God has called us His children to live a pure and holy life and He has empowered us by His Holy Spirit and His grace to live above this world's system, therefore the grace of God we have received is to teach us to say NO to all these evil (Titus 2:11-12), but to live to please God so that our lives will always bring glory and not shame to His Holy Name.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for calling me to live a holy life. Reflect your Holiness and love in my body and in my relationships with others in Jesus' Name.
FURTHER READING: TITUS 2:1-15.
ONE WORD: CALLED TO A HOLY LIFE.
