GOD'S COMMAND IS A LAMP

TEXT: PROVERBS 6:12-35 
KEY VERSE: "For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life." (Vs. 23)

 
SUMMARY
Evil begins with a wicked heart and unless we repent of the corruption in our hearts, all our body parts will become weapons of evil that harm others and eventually ourselves. The Lord hates the evil heart, haughty eyes, a lying tongue, bloody hands, feets that rush into evil, a false witness and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. We must repent of all the evil in our hearts and yield all parts of our bodies as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Keeping God's commands guides us like light, it correct and discipline us from immoral woman. To commit adultery is like scooping fire into ones lap or walking on hot coals. Whoever commit adultery destroys himself.

APPLICATION
From the above text, we can see that all forms of evil exhibited in the world by the whole human race begins from the heart (evil and wicked heart) and all these lead to destruction of the wicked, but there is a way out for all men to receive a new heart, heart created and regenerated in the image of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). This kind if heart delights in keeping God's commands and empowered to do so by the help and power of the Holy Spirit of God (Romans 8: 5-8). All we must do is to truly repent and surrender our hearts to God sincerely and daily plead for the help of God's Holy Spirit and power, then we will be truly victorious in life over sin and all its evil.

PRAYER: Lord, help me repent of my evil and hate what you hate, especially adultery. Let me use my every part as an instrument of righteousness to the glory of your Holy name in Jesus' name.
