ENTRUSTED WITH THE GOSPEL.

TOPIC: ENTRUSTED WITH THE GOSPEL.

TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 2:1-12
KEY VERSE: "On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people, but God, who test our hearts." (Vs. 4)

SUMMARY
Despite Paul, Silas and Timothy's much suffering while ministering in Philippi (Acts 16), they did not quit, but moved on to Thessalonians (Acts 17), where they courageously proclaimed the gospel despite strong opposition. Although their motives or tactics were questioned by some, but they were faultless. Their only motive was to please God, not men, thus their lives revealed God's approval upon them and their ministry. God entrusted them with the gospel and they proved faithful to it.
The Apostles loved the Thessalonians, which was proved by the way they share everything with them, not burdening them, rather treating them like their own children, their only desire for them was to live lives worthy of God and his calling.

APPLICATION
From the above text, I learnt that it takes a heart focused on pleasing God to be trusted and approved by him for the LORD tests the heart, (Proverbs 17:3). Only a man that is approved by God can be entrusted with His secrets and glory. So, it is my goal to ensure that my heart is firmly and fully focused on God all the days of my life so that he can continually show himself strong on my behalf, 2 Chronicles 16:9.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for entrusting the gospel to us, please give us courage to proclaim the gospel, love to live it out and a heart fixed on you in Jesus' Name, Amen.

FURTHER READING: 1 SAMUEL 16:1-13.
ONE WORD: APPROVED BY GOD.
