TOPIC:. ACCEPT GOD'S WORD AS GOD'S WORD
TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 2:13-20
KEY VERSE: "And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe." (Vs.13)
SUMMARY
The gospel has its origin in God, not in man. So, the Apostles taught it not as human words, but as the very word of God which came with divine power of the Holy Spirit and so it was received. This word continuously change them, working in them daily which was evident in their suffering and severe persecution because of their faith in God like the Apostles and other believers.
Although, believing God's word and living it out brings trouble from unbeliever, but their end is worst, as they will face God's wrath. Our view of the gospel shapes our life and lifestyle. The glory and joy of the Apostles is the transformed lives of the Thessalonians.
APPLICATION
From the study of this passage, I learnt that receiving God's word as God's word and living it out comes with suffering even from the least expected set of people (our own people) (2 Timothy 3:12), but the end is definitely glorious on the day of Jesus' return when we shall receive our reward of eternal joy and glory that surpasses our suffering, (2 Cor. 4:16-18), but for the wicked who continuously displease God, God's wrath is their sure reward, (2 Cor. 5:10).
With this full assurance and deep understanding of my sure reward of eternal joy and glory with God, I have decided to live out the very word of God as it works in me daily not minding the suffering now.
FURTHER READING:2 Corinthians 4:1-18.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for your powerful word which is at work in us. Help us to teach your word as it is.
ONE WORD: ACCEPT AND TEACH GOD'S WORD AS IT IS.
